My 16 year study of McCain (it wasn't ALL I was doing for 16 years...but I have been ahead of this curve) has shown an un-reliable conservative who constantly submarines our efforts in elections and in legislative initiatives. He made his mark by doing so, pandering to a media that hates what conservatism stands for and therefore love him. (He'll find out that love is fake when he goes against the Democrats in an election...instead of against conservatives on TV. Can you say Imus?)
We figured he would not campaign effectively and lead to an election disaster for our beliefs, the GOP and our country. He and his top campaign aid have as much as admitted as much.
In the primaries, various shades of conservatism were represented and therefore split many ways. Specifically Mitt and Fred didn't try hard enough soon enough. And Huck is no real conservative but gets the unthinking religious right types by default. Rudy was conservative on the two most important issues...but weak elsewhere and ran a strangely poor campaign.
So now we have the nominee the media and liberals wanted us to have. YIPEE. Oh well, we'll have fun calling out Obama and/or Hillary for who and what they are...even if our phony standard bearer is too gutless to do so.
Now, why do I believe all this?
As Communications Director for NC Bush Quayle in 1992, it was obvious who was working for us and who was working against us in the campaign. And no one...absolutely NO ONE was as big a problem nationally for all Republican campaigns as Arizona's John McCain. It was his devastating work that cut the conservative legs (already wobbly from having GHW Bush on the top of the ticket) out from under the campaign and propelled fake "centrist" Bill Clinton into the White House. It was during that terrible campaign that McCain became the darling of the media.
I knew then...8 years ahead of Rush and most conservatives...what I know now...that he is the most dangerous man in the Republican Party. This makes him one of the most dangerous men in the country. He is no Maverick...being anti conservative is the MOST GUTLESS thing you can be in Washington. He is simply a product of the media-political cabal that run D.C.
Being anti McCain was lonely until the primary season of 2000...when Rush and others finally got it about McCain. (Gordon Liddy is still clueless). CFR woke some others up. Now the chorus is growing. FINALLY!
This man has been who he is for years. Since 2000, as part of a heinous tantrum against the victory of GW Bush, McCain has had a liberal voting record and media presence. His whole career has been made fighting against what us as Reagan conservatives stand for...and he has the unmitigated gall to claim the Reagan mantle. Maybe the Ron Reagan Jr.mantle (a weenie commentator for MSNBC).
