Edwards gives birth to new level of hypocrisy
IF a guy gets filthy stinking rich by faking a pro-life position in a trial that ends up destroying jobs, THEN why in the world would he be the darling of any pro-choice voters who think he can create jobs?
Beats the hell out of me.
But this is what we have with John Edwards, he of the 30 thousand square foot bungalow in North Carolina with a carbon footprint roughly that of the entire free enterprise system in his home county. (and as soon as he can destroy that, he’ll be the number one polluter in Orange Country….not withstanding the intellectual pollution emanating from the faculty senate at the U. of North Carolina.)
In fairness, I guess technically he did create some construction related jobs by developing the huge compound he lives on….and I would wager that much of that work force included some illegal ali….er…undocumented workers---and just wait til his union buddies here about this!!!.
But back to the flaming pro life dissertation he gave. The spiel that filled his personal coffers with cash, the courtroom with horse droppings and ruined a couple medical careers….all with junk science that is now universally discredited (much like the scientific testimony that decided Roe V. Wade interestingly).
Edwards, figuring it’s more cost efficient to make millions from medicine by going to law school and then telling lies in court…as opposed to all of those messy cadaver labs and difficult classes in medical school….did just that in a case revolving around the timing of cesarean sections versus vaginal birth and it’s relationship to cerebral palsy.
“Doctor” Edwards had it on authority…HIGH authority….that delaying the decision to pull out the scalpel and go to c-section caused cerebral palsy (and eventually death) in certain children…or what the hell ever liberals call those things before they are born.
IF a certain group of doctors can be sued because their decisions might have harmed babies in the delivery process, THEN certain other doctors should not be protected when they plunge scissors into the skulls of the very same age babies…er…unviable tissue masses…at an even later stage in the delivery process.
Apparently to liberals, “delayed cesarean section” is a far more heinous crime than hand tool induced brainectomies. One wonders what the effect would have been if the defense had pleaded “post-defacto partial birth abortion.” But back to “Dr. Life.”
“She speaks to you through me….right now I feel her…..feel her presence,” said Edwards in the trial….as the jury---no doubt all Oprah watchers thinking this was better than Dr. Phil….sat in rapt attention. “She’s inside me and she’s talking to you. At 5:30, she said ‘I’m having problems. I NEED OUT.’”
At which point, everyone in the courtroom with an IQ in middle to high double digits or more, did need out…..and an airline bag. Unfortunately, that universe included no one on the jury. (Besides, we don’t know if John delivered vaginally or not. And he must have breast fed, because he recovered his youthful figure faster than Mrs. Edwards has.)
And all of this begs the question….many questions actually….not the least of which is just how do you know if you are channeling an “unviable tissue mass” or “a child.” I can assume that John chose door number 2…figuring it’s hard to get 50 mill for killing an unviable tissue mass…even from a modern American jury.
And this is all quite inconvenient to the pro abortion crowd….who of course support Edwards in droves. Besides the fact that so many of the pro choice protest set have literally nothing pregnancy related to worry about unless they are visited by someone with wings named Gabriel, they have also been too busy voting 845 times for Sanjaya to actually learn anything about Edward's pro life medical financial windfall.
I mean, let's add up the score here. First, a lawyer uses a pro life template and faulty science to make more money from the practice of medicine in one trial than most surgeons make in a lifetime and in the process destroys the careers of some who actually have medical degrees. Then this lawyer uses those millions (and related fame) to launch a political career based on currying the votes of those in poverty and those wanting free health care and abortions on demand. Only in Amerika.
Of course, full disclosure dictates that we do admit there is one slightly non hypocritical element to this. A good liberal could argue that this is consistent in a Kevorkian kind of way. You know, that it’s ok to euthanize members of society who are in pain after their “usefulness” is used up.
Afterall, these little children...er babies...er tissue masses....did build the base of a financial empire that launched a political career that might set free enterprise back a few millenia. Now by any standard that’s a pretty decent life’s work....or wait...the word life doesn't work here. Let's rephrase and say not bad for a few minutes of metaphysical existence...or whatever....in any case apparently it was time to learn enough language to speak to John Edwards. (One has to wonder if there is an english-only provision in the non life tissue mass universe or if Edwards is bi? Bi-lingual that is.)
Now we can't expect all of these logical and factual inconsistencies to get in the way of the Edwards voter however...or the voters for whoever the Democrats end up nominating. I would warn them however that their staunch pro choice stand...as it translates to partial birth abortion...could cause problems.
First, it could be used to nullify jury awards for any kind of problems related to the delivery of whatever it is doctors deliver. And second, it would cost some votes. Afterall, we hear the argument that abortion is ok up to the time that one can sustain itself outside the womb. You know, with that logic (oops, no logic on the left), it might be legal to get rid of grown children in Upper Manhattan who move back home.
